Cooking for soldiers
We cook about 2000-3000 meals a week for our dear soldiers who are battling in Gaza. The main focus of the project is to give them a taste of home and a warm hug in order to continue fighting to protect us with a happy heart.
Weekly food deliveries
Every week the Mercaz delivers over 600 food baskets to poor families, the basket contains fruits, vegetables, basic dry products and dairy. The products are donated by food factories, farmers and private people. The products are packed by volunteers that come every week. The distribution happens on Thursday beginning at noon until the evening hours, and on Friday starts at seven in the morning. A great part of the families can't come to accept their baskets, so we come to their homes with volunteer drivers and delivery it directly. Towards the holidays the distribution expands to approximately 1000 families as well as the containing of the baskets to have chicken and baked goods.
Soup kitchen
Mercaz Hesed Sderot runs a soup kitchen that provides a nutritional response for all days of the week. A warm meal to about 80 people mostly elderly, childless, holocaust survivors, and handicapped. the meal costs a symbolic cost in order to maintain the honor of the fed. The soup kitchen is clean organized and respective as any other restaurant. the atmosphere is comfortable and warm like family, and those who can’t have warm nutritional food during the week can enjoy a calm hour. The soup kitchen acts as a relax corner for those miserable souls and provides good atmosphere, social time, warm meal, social activities and more.
Second-Hand store
The second hand store offers second hand clothing, as well as new ones that are donated by different clothes chains, this way we are able to help the needy to enjoy beautiful quality clothes.
Special events equipment
Lending of chairs, tables, mattresses, kettles, mourning sheds and more.
Accompanying families
We make sure to help the families in need beyond the food baskets, we occasionally do a house check, and stay in contact with the welfare facility for updates.
